Pastor Mary Brown here. It’s Monday, August 26th – and here’s three things that are happening in and around Sylva First UMC this week that I’m excited about!
- An HR Meeting on Tuesday night. It might seem weird to be excited about a meeting, but HR (“Human Relations”) is an especially good one. Here at Sylva First, we have an awesome staff. It’s a joy to learn and serve Christ with them. This committee thinks intentionally about how we encourage and equip our staff – and that’s something to look forward to.
- The Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday. From 11am to 3pm, our Christian Life Center will be used to collect pints of blood that will help ill and injured patients. You can call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go online to redcrossblood.org and make an appointment; I’ve got mine for 11:45am!
- Communion this Sunday during worship. I love communion – through the bread and cup, we remember what God has done for us through Jesus Christ and experience God’s grace in a real and mysterious way. We’ll celebrate communion at both the 9am and 11am services this Sunday – come see for yourself. 🙂
