2019 Christmas Cantata Dec. 8, at 5:00pm. The chancel choir will present a Christmas musical on Sunday, December 8, at 5:00 pm in the church sanctuary. The choir will perform “Joy Has Dawned, a Christmas Celebration” by Lloyd Larson. Tommy Ginn is director of the Chancel choir. The Christmas story will be narrated by Bill and Lynne Johnson. Adult and children church members will portray the nativity scene. The Sylva Bells, a community hand bell choir, under the direction of Lori Merservey, will play holiday selections prior to the concert.

Following the musical, heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served in the church’s Christian Life Center for all to enjoy. Various instrumental groups will present Christmas music at this time. The public is invited to attend this evening of music, joy and fellowship, Sylva First’s gift to the community.

Sylva First facility need & charitable contribution opportunity: Our Allison building is currently heated with steam and cooled with window AC units.  We have no backup for either of these systems.  Our little ones in the Early Learning Center and nursery need a system that is safer, more efficient and more reliable.  A modern replacement will cost $22,500.    To make a donation toward this needed upgrade, please write “Allison heating” on your check.  We will keep you updated on the funding status through the end of the year.  Thank you, in advance, for your support. We have collected $4,400 of the 22,500.
Pews available for a donation   There are presently 7 unadopted pews left that are not being utilized in the church therefore they are available to the congregation for a donation to the church to support paying off the CLC loan. The recipient of the pews is responsible for transporting the pews from the church as is. Contact the  church office if you are interested in obtaining one or more of the pews. Cushions not included.  Deadline is January 1, 2020. Any pews that are not obligated will be offered to local churches, etc.   Wiley Harris, Property Chair
